Growing up

Well it happened...I closed my eyes for one minute, and Mia turned 6, at least that is how it feels. It is a strange feeling to see McKinlee and remember Mia being that age and seeing her now, and realizing how grown up she really is. For example it has been years since she has needed me to feed her, she dresses herself now, ties her own shoes, and can get them on the right feet, (a larger accomplishment then you might think) she can read, and do simple math.

Some of the things still are the same with a few advancements, she is still talks nonstop, but now she actually uses words, and doesn't just babble. She loves to talk on the phone, and doesn't just talk to herself. Her imaginary friends, Macha and Jayla, have moved out and been replaced with friend we can both see and hear, (in some ways we miss the imaginary ones.)

The biggest similarity however, is the fact that she is just as girly as she has ever been...case in point, She decided that she didn't want a birthday party this year. She wanted to go and get manicures and pedicures with her friend Julia. I don't know where this child comes from, lol, but that is what we did. That evening we had a bar-B-que with her friend Jackson, because "boys don't get manicures and pedicures" and her friend Emma because "Emma was too young"

The best part, is that Mia has remained so kind and loving to everyone around her. She makes friends everywhere she goes, and is still one of the most beloved kids in her class. All of her preschool friends and parents remember her, and when we went to the school open house earlier this week all of her classmates were running up to give her hugs. We are so happy to have such a beautiful and sweet daughter.
